Creating an Affiliate Marketing website using WordPress & Divi

A step-by-step guide on how to build website to promote products or services as an affiliate and start earning passive income.

Research

Choose a product or services you want to promote. Ideally, this are products you’re already using.

Design & Development

Design your website using WordPress+Divi then create a landing page or a blog post to where you will insert your affiliate link.

Marketing

Promote your affiliate website with the help of Facebook Pixel for conversion tracking and remarketing.

Step 1

Get a Domain name and a Web Hosting account

I usually get my domain name at www.domain.com but NameCheap is also a great alternative. Click here for a complete list of major domain registrar companies.

Web hosting services store your website data in web servers, which are very high-powered computers.

Step 2

Setup your domain DNS

Update the Name Server of your domain to connect to your hosting account. There are two options to point your website to your server.

1. Use your hosting name servers with your domain

2. You can just update the domain’s A record to point to your hosting account’s IP address.

Step 3

Install WordPress and Divi Theme

To install WordPress, simply login to your hosting account and go to your cPanel dashboard. Click WordPress and Install it on the your root folder of your server.

To upload the Divi theme, you first need to log in to your WordPress Dashboard. After you have logged in, click the Appearances > Themes tab to open up the themes page. Click the “Add New” button on the top of the screen.

Don’t forget to enter your username and API key so you can instantly update Divi in your WordPress Dashboard.

Step 4

Start building your page with Divi Builder

Divi is powered by the Divi Builder, an insanely fast and incredibly intuitive front end editor from Elegant Themes.

Divi Builder allows you to modify not just your site’s content, but the site design itself, without having to change your themes.

Step 5

Inserting affiliate links in your content

Depending on the products or services you’re promoting, affiliate links can be obtain through your account dashboard or directly from the product page itself.

Step 6

Install Facebook Pixel

A Facebook pixel is code that you place on your website. It helps you track conversions from Facebook ads, optimize ads based on collected data, build targeted audiences for future ads, and remarket to qualified leads.

Benefits of using a Facebook pixel

Track conversions

The Facebook pixel allows you to monitor how people interact with your website after viewing your Facebook ad.

Remarket

This capability is why you should create a Facebook pixel now, even if you’re not using Facebook ads yet—so you have retargeting capabilities from your very first Facebook ad.

Create lookalike audiences

Facebook can use its targeting data to help you build a lookalike audience of people who have similar likes, interests, and demographics to people who are already interacting with your website, helping you expand your potential customer base.
